"The Diamonds are Forever", this slogan must be quite familiar with you. Diamond can be easily associate with eternity because of it's stiffness. However, it is not indestructible. It could be broken down by applying a certain amount of effort onto it's Cleavage, where is the weakest point of a diamond, the bonding between the carbon molecules will break.

And Diamond is no longer the hardest material on earth anymore - Graphene, which is something similar to graphite which we use on pencil for writing, has replaced diamond and become number 1. Graphene is not being used on many areas scientifically. Diamond, Graphene and Graphite are all formed by carbon but with different molecular structures.

Speaking about Graphite, the graphite system artificial diamonds has also been created in the laboratory. It is almost identical to natural diamond and even has a higher purity. Before it could be introduced to the jewelery market, it is going to be used for the conduction technology, which is a better semi-conductor then silicon.

Most of the diamonds in the market came from South Africa. Funny thing is, All of diamond mines in the countries have already been sold to De Beers in the 19th century, which implies the pricing of diamond is closely related to this company.
